Kevlar® is a fantastic material ... it has a high tensile strength-to-weight ratio, and excellent resistance to heat, as it neither melts nor ignites in normal levels of oxygen. But, it is not a very good insulator. So, while Kevlar® sleeves do offer protection to one's arm, they do not do a great job of keeping your arms cool.
With this in mind, Anne and Allan Gott set out to find a material that offers better insulation, while still offering physical protection. They found an aramid fabric (they aren't telling us which one) which is much more effective at heat attenuation than other fabrics. By being better able to reflect away the heat, we can offer a much more effective, light weight, flexible sleeve. The fabric is very durable, and can withstand many washings. Yes, these are more expensive than plain Kevlar® sleeves, but trust me, they are worth it!
