Gloves are the first line of defense when it comes to protecting our hands from the heat. When selecting a glove, there are several things to keep in mind:
1) What is the temperature rating? This is probably the most important factor in choosing a glove, as a glove that won't stand up the the heat isn't of much use to us.
2) What is the insulation? It is the insulation that protects our hand. Not enough insulation, or the wrong insulation, will result in our hands getting hot too fast.
Of somewhat lesser importance is how the thumbs are attached to the glove. Two common styles are a 'wing thumb' and a 'set in thumb'. The wing thumb offers a more natural feel on the hand.
Another factor to consider is if the glove is reversible or not. All of our heavier gloves are not reversible, while the lighter-weight knit gloves are reversible.
